Welcome

EMBODIED Release

I am glad you have found your way here.

In my somatic therapy practice, I help clients release anxiety, emotional pain, suppressed past experiences, and tension held in the body. A significant part of the healing process happens through direct somatic experiences of the body while processing developmental and shock trauma. Over time, this approach helps people step out of their minds, trust themselves more, and deepen their connection to their true selves.

Through this work, you can find relief and self-compassion by releasing trauma stored in the body and nervous system.

I wish you all the best,

Mateusz

Online Somatic Therapy
Inquiry, Breathwork, and Developmental Trauma Integration

Somatic therapy is rooted in the paradigm of the body-mind connection. While this perspective has always been central to traditional wisdom practices, it has found its way into modern approaches through extensive research in trauma and neuroscience.

Online therapy sessions are body-focused, somatic inquiries dedicated to exploring topics you wish to address in your therapeutic process. This approach helps you uncover the roots of emotional patterns, recognize how they manifest as physical sensations, and practice staying present in your body.  The framework for this process is primarily based on Compassionate Inquiry, Circling: presence-based coaching, and Internal Family Systems. You can read more about these approaches in the sections below.

What is essential in somatic work is that the therapeutic process unfolds while we maintain continuous awareness and connection to the body. This allows us to go beyond the mind’s repetitive narratives and overthinking, and can help lift patterns of persistent anxiety, unease, or disconnection.

Another valuable tool we may incorporate in our online therapy is breathwork supported by releasing movement. During guided breathwork sessions, stuck emotions and energies can be expressed directly through the body, helping to release freeze states and bodily dissociation. This can be particularly supportive for people working with suppressed anger, depression, or a sense of low vitality.

Sessions end with a reflection on your insights and practical ways to integrate them into everyday life. This may include embodiment exercises, recommended books, workshops, self-inquiry, or mindfulness practices. Every session is uniquely shaped, and we co-create its form based on your intentions and current needs.

This process can support you in feeling more freedom, inner peace, and self-acceptance. After a series of sessions, many of my clients report feeling clearer about what they want and need, their boundaries, capacity to relate with others, and enjoying Life.

THE APPROACH

In my practice, I combine techniques from different psychotherapeutic approaches, and body-oriented therapy schools coming from the worlds of trauma therapy, breathwork, somatic inquiry, and mindfulness. The main paths that I integrate during 1-1 online therapy sessions are Compassionate Inquiry by Gabor Mate, Circling: Transformational Connection, Biodynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release System,  and Internal Family Systems (Parts Work).

IS IT FOR YOU?

I invite you first to apply for a free welcome session during which we explore together what you want to get support with. We check if I am the right person to work with you and give you ideas on what your healing process can look like.  It often also gives participants initial insights and some relief. The most common aspects, with which I am supporting my clients are:

  • Developmental Trauma and cPTSD

  • Depressions and Burnouts

  • Stress and anxiety

  • Chronic pain

TREATMENT PLAN

With most clients, I work either weekly, bi-weekly, or at a minimum, once a month. The total number of sessions typically ranges from 4 to 24, depending on the work you have already done, the goals you wish to achieve, and the pace at which we progress together.

The price for a 75-minute session is 800 DKK (105 €) when purchased as a package of 4 sessions, or 1000 DKK (135 €) for a single session.

Testimonials

Melany

''Mateusz helped me to release feelings that I had held on to for a long time. I used to be fearful or angry most of the time. After a few sessions, I was able to release these feelings. I now have a wider range of more subtle emotions. I am also more relaxed and am able to stay calm in stressful situations.''

Peter

"I honestly did not expect to have such a big reaction on the first meeting. I have been very aware of my sensations but never connected it to saying it out loud.

I really thank you for holding space for me at that moment as you did. I came out feeling relieved in some way, discovering that this kind of healing is possible and more suited for me than other therapeutic directions I have had in the past."

Tina

''I came here not sure what I was looking for but felt in the right place immediately. My world felt too heavy and my feelings too big. My hardest fight was between me and my own thoughts. Mateusz helped me to get out of my head and feel my feelings instead. This work is helping me listen to what my body's been trying to tell me for years.''

After the series of sessions, I realised some very useful insights and tools to accept and mitigate my experience of restlessness in my legs and continue to integrate these lessons into different aspects of personal development and discovery.  Very valuable experience, thank you, Mateusz

I came to Mateusz for help to find peace in my body, after being abused. I had already been many times to psychologists and found peace in my mind and heart, but the fear and sadness were still in my body. Already after the first session, I felt a big emotional and physical relief. I always feel safe during sessions and leave them happier, and more centered.

Sessions with Mateusz allowed me to sink into the body and tune into its needs and natural impulses. While the process was organically unfolding I could release physical tensions, and feel into their emotional component which allowed for more complete integration. It left me with a deep sense of calmness and grounding.

Mateusz's practice truly supports me in my journey of finding back to my body and restoring deep gratification for it. His touch, presence, and emotional sensitivity are without a doubt healing energy. Whatever arises during a session, Mateusz holds space for it. His practice and his calming energy are in many ways touching.

Before the session I felt the urge to connect to my body and my heart, it’s like I felt detached instead of whole. This is also what I wanted to work on and I came in with the wanting to understand and explore myself and my body-mind connection.

The session was everything I had hoped for and more, it helped me to let go and feel comfortable in my own skin and with myself, something that I’ve been feeling lately was missing.

It created a space for my mind and my heart to breathe.

Below, you can read about the main approaches
that I integrate during individual sessions.

COMPASSIONATE INQUIRY
developed by GABOR MATE

image.png

Compassionate Inquiry® is a psychotherapeutic approach developed by Dr. Gabor Maté that reveals what lies beneath the appearance we present to the world.

Using Compassionate Inquiry, both the individual and therapist unveil the level of consciousness, mental climate, hidden assumptions, implicit memories and body states that form the real message that words both express and conceal.

Through Compassionate Inquiry, the client can recognize the unconscious dynamics that run their lives and how to liberate themselves from them.  It is based on somatic awareness, mindfulness, and making connections between the inner belief system, emotions, and sensations. Compassionate Inquiry is focused on feeling and consciously experiencing the roots of developmental trauma and integrating that process into the body, preventing leaving clients with only cognitive understanding.

“The purpose of Compassionate Inquiry is to follow down to the core stories people tell themselves – to get them to see what story they are telling themselves unconsciously; what those beliefs are, where they came from; and guide them to the possibility of letting go of those stories, or letting go of the hold those stories have on them …

That’s what Compassionate Inquiry is.”

~ Dr. Gabor Maté

I find this framework to be a very effective way to reveal the truth about our core wounding and to release the roots of suppressed emotions, ultimately empowering clients over time and supporting them in growing into freer, more whole participants in life.

PRESENCE-BASED COACHING:
TRANSFORMATIONAL CONNECTION

In Transformational Connection, also known as Circling, we bring meditative awareness to what’s happening in the moment—within us and between us—while exploring the perception of reality from moment to moment. What unfolds can encompass the full spectrum of human experience, ranging from emotional revelations and spiritual insights to heightened sensory and energetic receptivity, meditative expansion, and emerging expressions of aliveness.

It is a journey of presence, connection, and aliveness. It is not aimed at prescribing choices or actions. The nature of this work is anchored in the present moment, holding an assumption of wholeness while welcoming the possibility of discovering even greater wholeness. It invites us to explore connection, stay mindful of the cost of rigid labels and reality choices that can easily lead to misunderstanding or pathologizing. This approach is oriented towards bringing fresh eyes to what is happening, with the intention of understanding how updating our beliefs about reality can, in turn, update our experience of reality.

This work involves a deep and intimate inquiry into the structures of one’s personal reality, including the ways we make sense of our experiences—both individually and collectively. If you are curious to explore this approach in a group setting, you are welcome to join one of the workshops. Please check the 'Workshops' tab on my website for upcoming weekend retreats and evening events.

I highly recommend this to anyone who wishes to develop their capacity to authentically relate with others and access greater presence in their lives.

BIODYNAMIC BREATHWORK
AND TRAUMA RELEASE SYSTEM

11-min-500x500.png

The foundation of the BioDynamic Breathwork and Trauma Release System is deep, connected breathing—primarily through the mouth—with minimal pauses between inhalation and exhalation. This circular breathing invites the body into a natural rhythm that gradually loosens chronic holding patterns and suppressed emotional responses. Over time, this practice supports a deep somatic awakening, allowing the body to come out of freeze states and reconnect with sensations, vitality, and aliveness. By stepping out of the mind and arriving more fully in the body, clients often experience a reduction in anxiety and overthinking, as attention shifts from mental loops to embodied presence. This process can lead to the release of deeply stored physical, emotional, and energetic residues—often related to both shock trauma (single overwhelming events) and developmental trauma (long-term exposure to challenging environments). Biodynamic Breathwork integrates principles from Somatic Experiencing (developed by Peter Levine), as well as influences from TRE (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) and body-type tension systems such as Bodynamic. One of the strengths of this approach is that clients can learn to safely practice elements of it on their own, empowering them to release accumulating tensions and regulate their nervous system in everyday life.

Clients after BioDynamic Breathwork sessions often experience:

  • loosening emotional and physical holding patterns,

  • coming out of a state of freeze and suppression,

  • rediscovering deep relaxation and peace,

  • establishing the connection with the Self,

  • release of embodied trauma.

INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS
also known as PARTS WORK

ALX 2021-12 Winter Festival RS - 6000 x 4000 - 04834.jpg

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic approach that views the mind as made up of different "parts" or sub-personalities, each carrying its own thoughts, emotions, and roles. In IFS, defenses and protective parts are not seen as obstacles to be removed but as valuable aspects of the psyche that have developed to keep us safe, often in response to past pain or trauma. Rather than trying to eliminate these parts, the therapy focuses on understanding and building compassionate relationships with them. This process helps uncover the parts they are protecting—often younger, wounded parts carrying unprocessed emotions.

A key principle in IFS is the recognition of the Self—a core, innate aspect of each person characterized by qualities like curiosity, compassion, calm, and clarity. The goal of the therapy is to help clients access their Self and create a trusting, healing connection between the Self and the various parts. Through this relationship, the system can gradually reorganize: protective parts can soften, wounded parts can heal, and the internal world can become more integrated, balanced, and harmonious. Instead of trying to get rid of parts, IFS supports the integration of all aspects of the self, honoring their purpose and ultimately bringing more inner freedom and wholeness.

Although I am not directly certified in this approach, after participating in various workshops, working with other therapists, and studying the work of the IFS founder, it feels honest to say that this approach strongly inspires my way of working and my therapeutic process.

I've been to several breathwork and dance events and I leave feeling present and full of life. Mateusz creates a safe space that I deeply appreciate.

Estrid Mortensen

I had a really good experience with body therapy at Embodied Release. Mateusz is a skilled practitioner with great empathy. After the treatment, I felt more comfortable in my body, a higher level of body awareness, and more in touch with my emotions. Particularly the latter was something I desired but wasn't sure if I could expect. I highly recommend Embodied Release to anyone interested in the connection between body and mind, or who simply wants to release tension in the body.

Liv Linea Holm
Agriculturist

I've had regular individual sessions with Mateusz for the past three years and have been really happy with it. It has always been a safe space for me. In the beginning, it was mostly physical release, but later on, there was more emotionally therapeutic work, which opened up new doors for me. I highly recommend Mateusz as a practitioner.

Sarah Warny Berg

Mateusz met me with a very comforting and warming presence, which made me feel very safe and taken care of already from the beginning.

I felt he was very respectful and genuinely curious in understanding my body during the treatments, and at the same time as he was very gentle, he also managed to give me that firm squeeze in sore spots of my muscles, that no massage therapist has ever managed to treat so satisfyingly.

Belinda Neuhauser

Yoga teacher

Mateusz radiates a very deep and truthful presence that encourages the entire system to trust and allow for the release of long-held patterns of control. After the session, I felt very much grounded in my natural flow of life, trustful to breathe deeper and enjoy more. I highly recommend working with him.

Benjamin Hugo

Mateusz is perceptive, he reads my body and applies measured and consistent force with serenity and care. I trust his hands and heart and I can let go with him in a brotherly way.
